Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an instructional technologist for the office of information technology.

The instructional technologist manages and supports technology used for teaching and learning at Hampshire College. The technologist provides front-line faculty support for instructional technology including Hampshire’s LMS, currently Moodle; designs and delivers training workshops and online tutorials covering a wide variety of instructional technologies; designs and implements in-person and virtual outreach and education programs around use of instructional technology; and consults and advises faculty on pedagogical best practices of using instructional technology.

The instructional technologist works closely with the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services and the Applications and Web Services Team to help apply universal design methods for technology within the campus community. This includes training and support for students, faculty, and staff to ensure equal access to course materials, instructional technology, and websites, as well as providing reasonable accommodations and training for assistive software and devices.

The position requires a minimum of a four-year degree with two years of related experience or equivalent training and related experience. An ideal candidate will have experience supporting faculty using instructional technology such as learning management tools and systems, as well as experience providing technical and/or instructional support in an educational setting. Knowledge of and experience with instructional design, technology integration techniques, assistive technology software, inclusive/universal design principles, and design of accessible course materials is also required. A strong technical background in a wide variety of digital and audio-visual technologies is a must. Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
