Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for director of advancement services in the office of college advancement.

Under the direction of the chief advancement officer, the director of advancement services provides leadership and vision in the development and implementation of a strategic fund raising program, increasing fundraising and marketing effectiveness by proactively conducting and interpreting data that will be used to make strategic decisions. The director will also develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that gifts, pledges, and grants from individuals and organizations are processed correctly and in accordance with Hampshire College, IRS, FASB, CASE, and NACUBO regulations and standards. The director drives the processes that lead to the effective identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and the engagement of alumni, parents and friends of the College. 

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of ten years of experience managing Higher Ed advancement systems, preferably Ellucian Colleague and iModules. Experience with constituent data base (CRM) implementations and effective usage in support of significant operations is essential. Strong understanding of fundraising operations and support services ranging from prospect identification through donor stewardship also required. This position requires a strong knowledge of financial accounting systems (FASB 116 and 117 specifically) and IRS regulations with regard to charitable giving, particularly those related to a higher education setting. Successful candidate will have solid technical, planning and problem solving skills with strong hands-on knowledge and skills of data manipulation, analysis, data visualization and reporting, and other relevant technology tools.  Candidate will have expertise with MS Access software, database structures, and data migration tools; exceptional analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail; and ability to analyze complex data from conceptualization through presentation to a cross functional audience. The director must be able to work under pressure; manage multiple projects and responsibilities; maintain a high level of confidentiality; and manage a highly effective performance team.
