Schedule: 10-12 Hours a week; August 18, 2021 to June 30, 2022

Pay Range/ Status: $13.50 Hour/Non-Exempt

Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

Reports to: Campus Store Manager

Anticipated Start Date: August 18, 2021

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is located on a beautiful rural campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 600 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. Our campus store provides students, faculty, and staff a place on campus to fulfill their needs for food, supplies, and spirit wear.  As part of the campus store team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position greets customers and assists customers with inquiries both in the store and on the phone.  Operates the point of sale system and is responsible for processing all customer transactions in accordance with established processes and policies, with a focus on safe money handling procedures and secure transaction practices. Shelves product and ensures product is priced and displayed properly.  Fulfills web orders as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Understands fundamental business concepts for a retail environment: cash-handling, inventory, pricing, and theft-prevention. As well as being able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent with one year of job-related experience.

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
