Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a Grants Coordinator in the Office of Foundation and Government Relations, which is a unit of the College Advancement Office.

Under the supervision of the Director of Foundation and Government Relations, the Grants Coordinator takes an active role in managing the work of the Office of Foundation and Government Relations (OFGR), including the coordination and tracking of grant activities required to ensure the effectiveness of the unit. Responsibilities will include helping to prepare smaller institutional and faculty grant proposals, writing stewardship reports to funders, and managing the day-to-day activities of the office. In addition, the coordinator will  create proposal files and track proposal submissions, awards, and/or declines; assist with preparing and submitting reports for foundation scholarship endowment funds and faculty/course development endowment funds, and other grant reports as needed; and assist with site visits by foundation program officers and government agency staff, including coordinating the schedules of involved parties across campus, arranging for the necessary facilities and catering, and researching and preparing briefing materials. The coordinator will assist with proposal preparation through researching foundations and government entities using professional databases, the internet, and news articles to find possible opportunities for institutional and faculty funding. This position will assist in copyediting and proofing proposals and reports, and drafting proposal materials for external funders and for other College Advancement staff as needed, including letters of inquiry, grant acknowledgement letters and white papers. The grants coordinator will be responsible for office management which includes updating  the OFGR website, particularly grant opportunities for faculty; organizing and maintaining OFGR files, including hard copy and electronic grant project files; assisting in developing new systems and processes to increase OFGR’s efficiency; and processing  meeting and travel expenditures.

A Bachelor’s degree is required with at least one year of job related experience. Successful candidate must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including clear, competent writing and be computer proficient and knowledgeable of financial reporting. Previous experience with professional software (e.g., Foundation Directory Online) and basic web editing preferred. This position requires strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects along with the pressures of proposal and report submission deadlines. The grants coordinator will be expected to work both independently and as a collaborative member of the OFGR team, which includes the Director and Assistant Director, and the larger Advancement Office team.
