Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an assistant to the dean/special projects coordinator to manage initiatives designed to enhance the work of the dean of students office and the student life division.

The assistant to the dean/special projects coordinator is responsible for managing all operations of the dean of students office as well as the supervision of administrative support staff and oversight of both the office and division budgets. Responsibilities include providing project support to the dean of students with annual goals and special initiatives, and institutional projects or initiatives. In addition, the assistant will provide logistic support for all events sponsored by the dean of students office and student life division; coordinate staff orientation for area’s new employees; organize and facilitate staff meetings with student life support staff; and recruit, hire, and train student employees within the division. The assistant to the dean/special projects coordinator will represent the dean of students at campus and community events as needed. This position holds supervisory responsibilities.

Bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of three years job-related experience. Qualified candidates should possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills; exceptional computer skills are a must. Applicants should have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines. Candidates must be able to respond well to crisis situations, and to determine direction and act accordingly in ambiguous situations. The assistant to the dean/special projects coordinator must be able to discern situations that necessitate discretion and maintain their confidential nature. Previous supervisory experience is desirable. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. 

This 12-month, 35-hour per week benefited position requires occasional evenings and weekends. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package.
