Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium with Amherst, Smith, and Mount Holyoke Colleges and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, invites applications for a 3-year visiting assistant professor of social developmental or cognitive developmental neuroscience in the School of Cognitive Science.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to engage undergraduates with developmental psychology and neuroscience through innovative teaching and research. Responsibilities include designing and teaching two courses per semester, at both the introductory and advanced undergraduate level, pursuing an active research program, and advising and mentoring students engaged in advanced independent research projects. In particular we are seeking individuals who can teach basic developmental psychology courses as well as cognitive or social neuroscience courses. We are searching for applicants who are able to combine engaged teaching with active inquiry within the context of an experimental, rigorous liberal arts education. The School of Cognitive Science is equipped with laboratory space to conduct behavioral and electrophysiological research. A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field, with a focus in social or cognitive developmental neuroscience is required by time of appointment, July 1, 2015.
