Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for assistant to the president.

The assistant to the president provides high-level administrative support to the President and to the chief of staff.  Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the schedule for the President and the chief of staff, managing the President’s correspondence, maintaining the calendar, setting up logistics for meetings, making travel arrangements, maintaining the president's office website, coordinating events, and providing budget support. The assistant to the president works closely with the President, senior administrators, academic deans, students, parents, donors, and VIPs, and is in regular contact with offices across campus to ensure optimal communication, coordination, and collaboration. The position of  assistant to the president carries a high level of accountability and impact, even when decisions involved seem relatively routine.

A bachelor’s degree and two years of experience providing high-level administrative support are required.  Experience in an academic or similar office setting is preferred. Qualified candidates must have computer expertise (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based software); strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The assistant to the president must have the ability to manage a complex schedule, make travel arrangements, draft and edit presidential correspondence, handle multiple complex tasks and responsibilities, and prioritize in consultation with the President and the chief of staff. This position requires a professional demeanor and impeccable capacity for discretion and maintaining confidentiality. The assistant to the president must be flexible and comfortable with rapid change, able to function effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment, and able to exercise thoughtful and independent judgment.  The assistant to the president must be supportive of the mission and pedagogy of Hampshire College, and enjoy working collaboratively with others to achieve the College's priorities.
