Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an assistant/associate director of annual giving in the Office of College Advancement. Title will be dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Reporting to the director of annual giving, the assistant/associate director of annual giving provides leadership in all phases of volunteer management and institutional development. The primary responsibilities include development, coordination and support of annual giving activities within assigned classes (approximately 15 alumni classes or 4,000 alums). Additional duties include, but are not limited to, cultivating relationships with key volunteers and leadership donors, recruiting class volunteers, coordinating and managing successful class fundraising campaigns, cultivating and soliciting Hampshire Fund prospects, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the College Advancement office.  The assistant/associate director of annual giving will develop content for solicitation messages, and demonstrate analytical talent, sound business judgment, flexibility and the drive to meet and exceed program goals.

A bachelor’s degree with three years’ experience in fundraising or related field is required. Qualified candidate should have an understanding of fundraising practices and strategies; strong organizational and time-management skills; and excellent interpersonal, oral communication, writing, and strategic planning skills. Candidate must have a strong attention to detail and high levels of discretion to maintain confidentiality with College data and information. Successful candidate must have excellent customer service and relationship management skills with a high regard for quality and consistency of communication. An ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team; and a willingness to learn, and take on new initiatives and skills are a must. Candidate should have familiarity with client relationship management (CRM) databases. This position requires a valid driver’s license and completion of the Hampshire College’s Driver Credentialing as some travel is expected to meet alums and parents across the country. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. The assistant/associate director of annual giving must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends.
