Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a food, farm and sustainability program coordinator. This is a one-year, grant funded position with continuation pending future funding.

The food, farm and sustainability program coordinator will work with the sustainability initiative director on the Food, Farm and Sustainability program which aims to transform the way the Hampshire community interacts with food, from production to consumption, as well as our collaboration with the local community. The program coordinator will work with the community supported agriculture (CSA) and farm managers, area farms and local food businesses, and Bon Appetit Management Company, in support of our sustainable and local purchasing goals in an effort to foster and build relationships across Hampshire College and with other institutions and organizations. The process of realizing the goal of significant local sourcing will provide excellent opportunities for education and outreach and Hampshire and beyond.   In addition, the food, farm and sustainability program coordinator will document the program’s planning process and accomplishments, through writing and editing the Food, Farm and Sustainability blog, as well as various communications to the College and local community.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years job-related experience is required.  Candidates should possess excellent writing skills and ability to communicate clearly, using many forms of communication, including social media.  The program coordinator should have excellent interpersonal and research skills, and be able to integrate qualitative and quantitative data.  Qualified candidates will be highly skilled with multiple computer programs, including budgeting software.  It is necessary that the program coordinator have an excellent background in subjects related to food, farm and sustainability, which is regularly updated through professional development.  This knowledge should be attained through a minimum of three years of experience, graduate work, or a combination. This position will require occasional evenings and weekends. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This 12-month, 35-hour per week benefited position holds a grade 5 in the Hampshire College staff salary grading schedule, and has a one year employment cycle from date of hire.
