Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a Colleague programmer in its information technology office.

The Colleague programmer works as part of a team to provide support for, interfaces to, and maintenance of the College's database of record - Ellucian Colleague.  The responsibilities of this role are to apply analytical techniques and procedures to understand and translate business requirements into functional deliverables for the College. The programmer will need to perform encoding, testing, debugging and installation activities as necessary. They will work with organizational end users and co-workers in IT to clarify current operating procedures and communicate program objectives.

Duties require intensive knowledge of a highly specialized field equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science with emphasis in information systems and software design. Application programming and analysis experience in the design, development, and implementation of administrative application functions such as finance, human resources, student and academic records, and advancement or equivalent systems highly desirable. Five years experience supporting and programming in the Ellucian Colleague environment, using reporting tools such as UniQuery, Informer and with several programming languages, especially Envision BASIC, is also required. Prior web programming experience, knowledge of Javascript, PERL or PHP, and experience with Linux and Windows server environments, and SQL desirable. Some experience with C#, .Net, Visual Studio, html, css, javascript, and JSON a plus. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds is essential.
