 Schedule: 40 Hours a week

 Pay Range/ Status: $22.00 – $23.50 Hourly / Non-Exempt

 Location: Hampshire College Campus in Amherst, MA

 Reports to: Director of Dining Services

 Anticipated Start Date: September 30, 2021

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The lead kitchen supervisor is responsible for assisting the kitchen manager in overseeing all culinary functions for the dining department.  In the absence of the kitchen manager, this person is responsible for all kitchen operations during their shifts. The person in this role will manage and lead a team of associates and oversee safety and sanitation as directed by the kitchen manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

The individual in this position must have a strong passion and motivation to create great food.

A strong working knowledge of kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures.

The person in this role must be able to communicate extremely well with a diverse team and our guests.

The position will require patience to teach and lead a team of various abilities in such a way as to produce high quality, nutritious meals.

Ideal candidates will possess two to three years of high-volume experience.

Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or problems.

Good driving record: able to be credentialed to drive College vehicles.

Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.

Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

Two years job-related experience

ServSafe Certified

Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.

Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
