Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a payroll and purchasing assistant.

Reporting to the business services manager, the payroll and purchasing assistant is responsible for processing the College's student payroll and various personnel transactions. This position will also have an active role in the operation of the purchasing office providing customer service for students, employees, and vendors.

Payroll duties will include: accurate and timely completion of student payroll; preparing federal and state tax deposits; processing various payroll/personnel transactions; serving as back‐ up for bi‐weekly and monthly payroll; performing administrative duties including records maintenance and responding to payroll inquiries; and preparing student payroll and benefit reconciliations.

Purchasing duties will include: providing assistance to employees using the Colleague Purchasing Module with activities such as; adjusting completed purchase orders and requisitions; updating the system as necessary; maintaining and monitoring the use of the College's purchasing card system; auditing card holders' statements and receipts; and administering changes to cardholders' accounts according to established policy. This position provides support for accounts payable when necessary.

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years job-related experience is required.   Successful candidate must be computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel, and web‐based software), have excellent verbal, written communication, and customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This payroll and purchasing assistant must be able to work in a fast‐paced environment. Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
