Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a temporary residence hall director to begin immediately.

The residence hall director is an active and visible live-in staff member who provides 24-hour/day leadership, general advising and support to resident students.  The residence hall director initiates and encourages community development within the student residences, and serves as the first-line of emergency on-call response. Evening and weekend work is expected.

A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one-year job-related experience is required; previous experience in residence life is a plus. Qualified candidates must have an understanding of Student Development Theories, knowledge of issues pertaining to college life, and demonstrated experience in multicultural issues with a focus on education and training. Candidates must possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, intervention and crisis management skills, and experience with computer programs and social media applications. This position requires a valid driver’s license and successful completion of the College’s defensive driving training course. A commitment and ability to create and maintain socially just, diverse, and equitable communities is essential.
