Food Service Workers

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative, liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for food service workers.

The food service workers prepare, present and serve food as needed. Duties include prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables; weighing and measuring designated ingredients; carrying pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards; storing food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures; and cleaning work areas, equipment and utensils. The food service workers will be expected to utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control; serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service; resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor; ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures; and assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements. These positions may be assigned to cashier duties, dishwashing, and preparing and serving foods.

High School diploma or equivalent with one year of job-related experience is required. Qualified candidates must have knowledge of culinary weights and measures, and be able to follow recipes and directions. Candidates must have outstanding customer service skills and a desire to help others. These positions require frequent standing for prolonged periods of time-up to 4 hours; experience handling knives and commercial kitchen equipment; ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs; and to frequently bend and twist from the waist. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

These 10-month, 40 hour/week benefited positions have employment cycles of August 1 through May 31. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits program.
